Tbh I think its the other way around. Pain haters are close minded whereas Pain supporters understand both sides of the coin and have gone back on their hate for Pain and understood the message. Pain haters are just on a one track mind coz he killed their fav characters and the village
Exactly! You beat me to the punch. Pain haters are the true closed minded. They fail to see what the point of Pain is. It's the contrast between Naruto and Nagato. Both of them suffering through pain, both want to achieve peace, but both are going about it different ways. Pain killing Naruto's friends and village is to hurt Naruto. To make him "know pain". In order to bend Naruto's will and shine light on Nagato's mindset. That's why Pain is my favorite villain of Naruto. His ideology, his methods, his determination. You can hate on Pain for killing your favorite characters, hate on him because he might have a misguided plan. But you cannot deny that his motives are calculated and founded by logic. That's why Pain's speech about the cycle of pain is so iconic in Shippuden. Because you understand where he is coming from. Being able to see both sides of a coin is being "open minded" but hating on Pain for the surface is VERY "closed minded"
What Minato said was true that this distorted world created Pain and killed Jiraiya and through further hatred, a lot more Pains can be created, that’s the philosophy. Hate only creates hate. If you are gonna hate Pain, you are only gonna be hated by Pain’s allies, and this will never solve anything. The only way out, is acceptance, learning of why what happened, and moving on.

I also heard that Minato asking naruto his age is a way to calm someone having a breakdown that therapist use all the time, by asking him a simple personal question naruto would recenter or something like that.
