You misunderstood... Kakashi’s dad actually chose to save his comrades and abandon the mission. Because of that everyone viewed him as scum even the people he’s saved (his comrades). Eventually he couldn’t take it so he committed suicide. Kakashi is actually angry at his father. So he chooses to do the opposite of what his father did. He chooses to follow the rules and put the mission above his comrades (his father chose comrades). Thats why Óbito said kakashi’s father was a hero, because kakashi said “ Breaking the rules makes you scum“ but Obito agrees with Kakashi’s dad and defends him by saying “ Abandoning your comrades makes you worse than scum“
