This story can not exist without L or Light, such amazing characters, I do believe Light regretted his actions now that he took this route and lost everything and wishing he just never picked the book. He would've been the light without memories but unfortunately, you know the rest. Really great story and lesson on never going down the route Light took which will lead to misfortune.
Great series.. light could have easily won tho.. all he had to do was tell Mikami to tear out pages of the Deathnote and keep them in a safe place for later... write down all the names in the "fake" deathnote except Aizawa name to cause him to get arrested and not light and then kill them all off later...
Yes, exactly, keep a page in his notebook or his pocket like kiyomi. Ultimately, I wished that Near had won instead of Light losing. Light had lots of ways to win and I wish Near had a better plan than luck with mello but ultimately, I'm satisfied with the capture despite there always be a wishing on improving the overall story.
Light was always 1 step ahead of everyone it made little sense for him to fall at the final hurdle like that.. he felt nerfed to me.. the real light would of won and had it all planned out.. and agree there should of been a better plan for him to eventually get caught than what we got.
Yes light started with right intentions...and then he became dark...and i think any human will...if you give such power to any human that person will become dark...atleast at the start he never went for his own revenge..he thought of killing criminals and then slowly went mad....but if you look deeper...i think all of it was ryuk's fault...its an unpopular opinion i know...but just because you were bored you screwed up a bright person...because as humans we are not perfect...any human would become dark after having such a power...i know light deserved this ending but it made me sad to see such a bright and intelligent person die just because some other being wanted to have fun

I 100% agree... There's just no other way to clean the world that we live in. Unless people with strong ego, prideful, and is careless or doesn't care about others/life doesn't exist, Humanity will never be a peaceful race.

Its plain impossible, something like absolute peace wont ever happen without a hivemind controlled by a queen, thats why the whole idea of utopia is just an impossibility, due to opposing ideals from every person, unless everyone thinks the exact same, something like true peace cant never be achieved, what Light created was just a fake utopia ruled by fear of being killed, similar to Superman in Injustice

The last rule of the death note they showed about going to nothingness means that no human goes to heaven or hell. It was explained to Light by Ryuuk in the manga just before he kill hims. I prefer the ending in the anime. The music and the visuals telling the story with just Ryuuk's short monologue. The manga had a drawn out epilogue. This is the better ending in my opinion.
