Hi Suzy! I love how this episode changed everything. To the people who still though this is a game, it made them notice that it isn't one. About risk and boundaries about this episode, that was the only way from Eugeo to break his seal; cause he was so adherenced to the law, he doubted Kirito's words about break the rules.

It's difficult to address how necessary these sorts of scenes are in a given work of fiction. One place to start is to decide how it contributes to the story. If it were removed, would the story change? Often, especially in older works, it doesn't. In this case, the purpose was to get Eugeo to break the seal of the right eye and send them off to the tower with the Alice reveal, and perhaps further display the power and corruption the taboo index enables, because that's an important narrative element, especially later when you understand why. But did we need the gratuitous actions? The lengthy scene? The frog-tongued villainy? Or was it there just for shock value and to make the viewer feel sick? In the earliest version of this story, Eugeo was actually too late and the rape had already occurred, and in that case, the narrative impact is definitely reduced I think. Discuss.

Watching this for the first time was quite shocking for me considering this season had been pretty vanilla until this.

fun fact: in japan this episode was so impactful that Reki Kawahara, the author of SAO, actually apologized to the female actresses for going through the recording of the "rape scene" and said that in the future he will try to avoid using methods like this in his work

Yeah this episode was hard to Watch tbh but the sub of this scene, the Voice actors did an amazing job and it was convening and made me extremely unfortunate
