Good eyes noticing the animation changes, that is because it's done with different directors and creative staffs, there will be more changes as they did hire different people for different episodes, specially those that needs more care, this episode wouldn't be as good as it was if they use the people from Gaara retrieval arc's team, clearly this episode are one of those important ones that they are willing to spend extra money just to make the emotional moments reach the viewers, and notice what was Shikamaru observing through the episode, that's what Asuma left him with,

I don't want to be like every typical sub watcher (dub hater)... I just want to mention that in Shippuuden the dubs kinda killing the emotions, the feelings. Anyway, I love your reactions and thank you for everything you made for your fans so they can be able to watch them.

Team Asuma is led by Kakashi now, Team Kakashi is led by Yamato. Frankly speaking Yamato is necessary to keep Naruto in check so I don't mind this at all.

Suzy you need to stop complaining constantly and screaming. Enjoy the episode cause this one is so beautifully directed and animated. Try to understand things in deeper meanings. If you couldn't understand what Shikamarus dad was doing then you ARE stupid. You are 30 years old for gods sake and I knew what was happening and appreciated the whole episode for it's greatness for the first time watching it when I was 15.

I know the rules of Shogi. The piece he was looking at was the king. Asuma taught shikamaru about the meaning of the king. The last shot of the shogiboard describes the knight attacking the two strongest enemypieces at ones. The knight has pawns as backup and one transformed pawn near one of those major pieces. I know more about this, I've already seen the whole story, but I wont say more.
