The Final Battle - Naruto Shippuden Episode 476 Reaction

Realistically Sasuke is probably right. The nations would need a common enemy or they would just go back to fighting each other over time. Even if all the current generation grew to understand and respect each other, it would go away with future generations. However since it's a tv show/manga that usually means the naïve idealist is always right because reasons. However when I watched this fight I always felt Sasuke and Naruto are both holding back. Sasuke doesn't really want to kill Naruto, he feels he has to kill Naruto. And Naruto obviously doesn't want to kill Sasuke.

I was on sasukes side. While you said you don’t know that the 5 nations would go back to the way they were before, you also don’t know that they won’t. Plus, to be fair, the only thing that brought them together in the first place was a shared enemy so it’s reasonable to assume, that now that they don’t have a shared enemy, that they will go back to the way things were. Not necessarily warring but with a fragile peace.
I'm wording all of this to avoid spoilers: Realistically, that's probably accurate. The only way there can be a good amount of peace after the war is because it's what Naruto and/or Sasuke would want. Let's pretend Naruto gets his vision. The world would only be at peace because all the other nations know that if they step out of line that he could fly over to where they are, nuke them off the map, and force peace. Same if Sasuke is in power. But what happens if Naruto's vision becomes a reality and then he eventually dies? I mean, even the Sage of Six Paths died. There's no superpower remaining to force peace. In Sasuke's vision, he can find a way to live forever and force that peace.
Sasuke's monologue reminded me of Naruto's monologue when he found out that Sasuke captured Killer Bee and about the war. He wanted everyone to focus their hatred on him, and not Sasuke or he wanted to win the war all by himself. We applauded him then. This is definitely different in some respects, but also similar in others.
Suzy: Sasuke, Itachi wouldn't be proud of this, just so you know.
Me: ? Are you sure about that?
Few dozens episodes ago...
Itachi: You don't ever have to forgive me and whatever you do from here on out, know this. NO MATTER WHAT I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU...
idk why that triggered me... Sorry ?

You know what... Sasuke has the rinnegan which is called "the all seeing eye". Maybe his vision was the true reality and the true choice of peace and freedom. When you think about it, everyone who possessed the rinnegan saw it this way (Madara, Obito and Nagato) well except the sage of six paths but what do we know. Perhaps that's why he didn't interfere with the wars or this battle. Maybe he had the same vision too. But Naruto's vision perhaps succeeds cuz an ideal world of peace is just surreal. Perhaps the balance of war and peace is all there is ever going to be and we can only try to look for that peace like Naruto. Very contradicting ideologies indeed. But I mean humans have always sought peace and love but their realities historically have only been war and lust.
So the funny thing about sasukes ideals here is that they are not that much of stretch. He has the ability and reason to bear the burden if hatred and do all of what he says and frankly it would be the perfect option moving forward with only one thing that comes into play. And that's Narutos existence. If naruto didn't exist sasukes answer would be the answer and because he doesn't think Narutos ideals would work he is acting on the idea that he would be making the sacrifice of killing Naruto in order to preserve a better future and truly the only reason he is wrong is because Narutos ideals will work.
