The arc starts off strong for sure. For me it just goes down a down a spiral that changes stuff that has been stated from previous chapters/episodes and for me some poor choices in the direction it ultimately takes. I still enjoy the show but for me the last episode I tend to watch is around 425 or so I don't remember which episode number it is just the events around it. From that point on I just don't care to see the way it wraps up. I am told there's some fun filler before the end, I just never have sat down to watch it myself yet. Who knows with the rona sticking around for months more maybe I will finally do it. I prefer og Naruto to this series myself. Up to the filler spam lol. The flow of the series just works better. There is a bit of filler with in those parts but almost all of it works.

Episode 271 is a tie-in with the ninth Naruto movie, "Road to ninja". Although it is technically filler, it is just one episode and it is hilarious, so you should react to it too.
The ninth movie is very good too, so you should watch it too, even if you don't react to it (although it would be a pity).
Obviously, that choice is yours and only yours.

the downside to shippuden imo is the many many flashbacks and the crazy amount of fillers. og had barely any of that.

The canon stuff was great. However, the fillers start going on overload soon. With one episode a week in its original run, it could end up interrupting the flow of the canon story. You most likely won't have that problem, however, so I imagine it won't jar you too much.

I largely agree with you, Suzy. The War Arc is the best the series has to offer for many reasons. There are legitimate complaints though. Examples include the number/duration of flashbacks and the fillers. Regarding flashbacks, I don't mean to bash them entirely. There are two really important topics discussed via flashbacks during this arc that are a must. But most of the others are blah.

People didn't like The War Arc because of the fillers and the weeks of waiting to get back to the good stuff. Kinda jealous you have the ability to power through or skip fillers xD.
