I'm pretty sure the most recent interview he did said that Naruto was Kishimoto's favorite character, as cliche as it is.

Nah, Kishimito likes Sasuke. He's a sucker for the shitty Uchihas after all and Itachi is his self-insert

I feel like calling Itachi a self-insert is just plain wrong and disrespects how amazing his character is. Sasuke is also a great character imo.
