He's definitely not using his clan as an excuse. I never once got that impression from him nor does the story give you any indication of this at this point in the story. His clan and more specifically, Itachi is his reason for doing everything. If he had no love for Itachi, he would not have awakened the Mangekyo and would not have decided to take vengeance against the people that wrong him. Sasuke's only problem is that he's become so hateful that he truly thinks EVERYONE is to pay for Itachi's sacrifice. But to think he might be using his clan as an excuse is the wrong interpretation.
People love to preach about how vengeance is bad and so forth. You try going through an experience as tragic as that and you'll be changed too. He has every right to pursue vengeance against Danzo. People need to realize that this isn't team 7 Sasuke anymore, he's following his own path.
He doesn't have to follow his brother's wishes, and it's not like it's malicious towards Itachi's will. He's willing to avenge his brother and his clan and I don't have a problem with it. Itachi said Sasuke was a blank canvas so he knew there was a possibility he would seek vengeance against the Leaf.
I know and yet Itachi was willing to take vengeance upon the Leaf by alternate means if anything happened to Sasuke. So why can't Sasuke avenge his brother and his clan? After the truth was revealed to him he realized he loved his brother again. That's some strong ass PTSD he has to deal with, simply letting things slide seems impossible to Sasuke. I know Itachi cared about the village but the village isn't Sasuke's concern after what they did to the Uchiha and to Itachi.
So he should just throw away everything and live like a robot by somebody else's wishes? Sasuke sees Itachi as someone who was abused to the point of no return and feels his pain, he has no forgiveness left for those responsible for it or anyone who might get in his way.
Itachi may have succeeded in making Sasuke loyal to the leaf if it wasn't for his blatant poorly constructed lies, ultimately Itachi failed.

Live like a robot? That's a reach and a half. Essentially what I said is that he has every right to go after Danzo and avenge his brother and his clan. He could have been told the truth by someone not trying to manipulate him and is reaction probably would have been the same. For example when Iron Man found out Winter Soldier killed his parents, it was a manipulated situation but he could have been told calmly by Cap and it still wouldn't have mattered.
If Sasuke manages to get revenge on Danzo that goal will be complete, if he manages that I'm not saying that he should let himself be Madara's puppet afterwards..
