You should keep most of it in, because even facial reactions and movement reactions are important to some things in terms of you reacting.
In terms of slow pace and editing, you have to remember that this is a slow anime with a lot of information being thrown around, so usually that would be a distraction and kinda pointless (ex. Naruto), but this anime kind of needs scenes like that because of how much information needs to be gathered.
Seeing you think about these scenes during the video, I feel, is important to keep in, as it also builds up scenes later for the viewer~

Well not really. If for whatever reason it didnt work, at that point he’d have no alternative but to make the eye deal on the spot. Which wouldnt be all bad because it would save him a lot of potential future headaches like this where he needs to know someone’s name
