They did my girl sakura dirty by redeeming her this arc and then throwing her to the wayside the rest of the show. Well they did that anyways with everyone who wasnt Naruto and sasuke.

It's funny how naruto and Kakashi spent at least 6 episodes maybe more chasing that akatsuki on the bird

You're not wrong but 15ish minutes last episode was 1 minute to sakura so maybe they've been following them for like 10 minutes, who knows
