MHA reminds me of the Kate Daniels book series (excellent urban fantasy) in that the protagonist not only grows in power individually but becomes part of a team.

just a heads up, but the first episode of every season of MHA (after the first season of course) is recap filler. I honestly don't mind, of course, just saying if that's something you want to be aware of, it's going to happen in the other seasons when you start those.

Also, the first movie (Two Heroes) is canon and takes place between this season and season 3.
